Photovoltaic systems are divided in three main categories:
Not architecturally integrated systems when:
modules are set on the ground through simple structures optimizing their inclination;
modules are not coplanar to the surface on which they have been installed.
Partly architecturally integrated systems when:
modules are installed on flat roofs or terraces, the half of their height is lower than perimetrical balustrade's height;
modules are set above the cover and are not thoroughly mounted on it.
Architecturally integrated systems, when:
modules replace functional parts of the structure;
modules replace the structural element of shutters and sunbreakers;
modules are coplanar to covering elements.
